Jill M. O’Toole is a seasoned trial attorney, who draws on her legal acumen and experience representing clients to provide tenacious, creative representation in complex litigation before state and federal courts and arbitration panels. Jill understands the priorities and concerns of her clients and works closely with them to resolve disputes quickly, favorably and efficiently, enabling them to focus their attention, energy and resources on what they do best. 



Jill’s practice is broad-ranging and diverse. She has represented Fortune 100, large manufacturing and fintech clients, small companies and individuals in varied industries, including financial services, agricultural, pharmaceutical, aerospace, plastics and automotive. Her litigation experience includes debt and equity securities, antitrust, trade regulation, fiduciary duties, contracts, business torts, insurance, self-regulatory (including Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA) matters and intellectual property protection. She has also litigated disputes involving limited liability companies and partnerships. She also represented publicly-traded and privately-held financial institutions, financial services companies, placement agents and fund managers and advisory firms. She also has significant experience in class actions and multi-jurisdictional disputes in the U.S., including the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, and internationally in Asia, Europe and South America.

 

Before joining O’Toole + O’Toole PLLC, Jill was a partner in a Connecticut-based law firm and, before that, an associate in the New York office of an AM Law 25 Firm. She started her legal career as a law clerk for Judge Gerard L. Goettel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.  During law school, Jill was the Special Publications Editor for the Fordham International Law Journal and a member of the National Moot Court team.

Jill has been recognized in Chambers and Partners and Super Lawyers and is a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.  She also recently served on the U.S. Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel for the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
